Years after Kid Cudi penned the soon to be stoner classic “Day N’ Nite” his buzz has become deafening and is only intensifying with each new leaked song. The latest to hit the blogosphere is the mid tempo, playful song entitled “I Poke Her Face”. The song’s not so subtle play on words samples Lady GaGa’s recent dance floor smash “Poker Face”. Kanye West not only provides the beat, with his trademark drums, but also drops a dope verse for fans hungry to hear Kanye rhyme again. The always reliable seasoned veteran Common tags along for the ride and A-Trak compliments the joint with some well placed record scratches.

Rega Research Ltd. is a high-end audio equipment manufacturer based in the UK. Founded in 1973, the company’s name was formed of the initials of its two founders (RElph & GAndy). Historically Rega are best known for the Rega Planar turntable, but in recent years the company has diversified into a range of other hi-fi products.

Lagerfeld was quoted commenting the instrument: “Coco Chanel had an affair with Stravinsky, mine was with a guitar.” It was launched in the SS09 fashion show with models strutting rock inspired garb. No word on who produced the instrument for Chanel. The instrument and case’s ticket price is £2800.

Chicago bred Christian Rich hit the blogosphere with an Electronic inspired menacing sounding track entitled “Stacks”. The band is mostly known for their production work with the likes of Lil Kim and early Clipse records, but here they stand out on their own with a song that would sound just as comfortable on Hip Hop radio as it would at a sweaty dance club. To say 2008 was a good year for Lil Wayne would be the understatement of the century. After selling over a million in a week, guest starring on every relevant artist’s album, wracking up eight Grammy nominations and making a very vocal yet dwindling group of nay sayers eat their words, one would think a much deserved rest was in order. However, much like the half robotic auto tune device Wayne utilizes, his work ethic seems inhuman as he continues releasing quality material in 2009. Wayne’s latest boundary and neck breaking track entitled “Yes” features a grimier then usual Pharrell Williams. The dubstep-influenced bass line provides a canvas for Wayne’s uncontrollable codeine flow, playful punch lines and demonic cackle. Wayne’s boredom with ordinary conversational flow, typical beats and mundane subject matter has made him an almost fearless artist and a polarizing figure to those who are used to Hip Hop being a certain way. Whether you hate it or love it, there’s no doubt your paying attention.

Crooks & Castles collaborated in an interesting project with Persona Magazine. The two worked on the Persona Of A Crooks Box Set, which consists of an aluminum hard case, 126 page book, limited edition Crooks & Castles t-shirt, as well as an exclusive Raekwon CD.

The hardcover book features an action packed cop and robbers story, staring actress Melissa Ford, rounding things off with commentary from Raekwon.

Kanye West feat. Kid Cudi – Anyway

After a few leaked songs and some official singles, it is now clear that Kanye’s 808s and Heartbreak will have a running theme of lost love and relationships painted over a canvas of synthesized keyboard stabs and old school Hip Hop drums. The latest song to be found on the blogosphere “Anyway” follows this same formula minus the tragic heartbreak that can be found in some of Yeezy’s earlier released songs from the album. The unusually upbeat track finds Kanye half singing (yes auto tune is present and accounted for) half rapping about an insecure woman. Kid Cudi is along for the ride crooning on the chorus.

Kid Sister “Dream Date”

Chicago’s Kid Sister has benefited from her Kanye assisted “Pro Nails.” Her brother is part of stellar duo Flostradomus. She chills with A-Trak. David Banner stops by on her debut album, “Dream Date.” All sounds good, it’s just a shame that her album cover art detracts from the budding pedigree. The record itself, however, should prove a winning celebration of retro meets contemporary rap.

“Dream Date” drops November 25 from Downtown.

Kanye’s 808s & HEARTBREAK promo shots

On November 25th, 2008, Kanye West will be releasing his new album, 808’s & Heartbreak. According to some rumors as well as the already released songs from the album (Love Lockdown and Heartless), this album will consist of more singing rather than rapping . Now, thanks to The Clones, we get a preview of some promo shots done for the album by photographer Willy Vanderperre. Notice that Kanye’s style has changed a lot since his previous albums.
