GDFT x adidas Originals “Rod Laver” Varsity Jacket

To compliment their Rod Laver release in association with adidas Originals, Canada’s GDFT recently released a matching varsity jacket. The use of wool on the Rod Laver collaboration joints make for a more than suitable transfer to a varsity jacket. The jacket’s subdued design incorporates patches denoting GDFT as well as an embroidery signifying the adidas and GDFT partnership. The jacket is available now at GDFT.

adidas Stan Smith Trefoil Mid Pack

Creating an offspring of the original Stan Smith, adidas works up a new pack of sneakers entitled the Stan Smith Trefoil Mid, from the adidas Comfort Pack. Both kicks feature a mid/hi cut, packaged with a 3D Trefoil side emblem and ultra light uppers. Two colorways were released, including an Eggplant Purple and Metallic Gold, both of which are now available through Schuh-You.

adidas Rod Laver ‘White/Blue’

One of adidas’ most iconic sneakers is the Rod Laver. After nearly fourty years, it is still relevant and classic, despite a countless amount of different colourways over the decades. One of the newer versions comes in a white/blue colourway featuring nylon, suede and leather materials. mash rating: 6/10

adidas Consortium Nizza HI

When adidas drops its next batch of Consortium-themed sneakers, expect this Nizza Hi, that Goodfoot, Huf, UNDFTD and DQM will stock exclusively to be the standout. The classic silhouette that’s hooked up in jersey material will be tough to find in the U.S outside of the four top-tier boutiques, and while things have been getting a bit bright for summer, the sneaker makes for the perfect return to simple. adidas Vulcanized Slim

Adding an elegant touch to their already stacked Originals range, adidas works up the Vulcanized Slim. The shoe features a low profile upper with minimal perforated detailing, including an outline of the traditional three stripe motif. Two colorways have now released including a tonal white and metallic bronze colorway, both available at select adidas Originals Concept locations including their Hong Kong Concept Store.

Sneaker Customizer – Desperately Seeking Pharrell Williams

An email notification awoke some of us here at Freshness early this morning.  Seems like designer Arthur Roberts from collective Mumz the Werd wanted to give a pair of customized adidas Stan Smith to Pharrell Williams at New Jersey’s Rutgersfest over the weekend. But for reasons unknown, was never able to.  Here is what he wrote…

I just made a pair of custom white on white adidias stan smith for Pharrell but I couldn’t get them to him at Rutgerfest last friday. I need some kind of help getting him to see the sneakers so he knows i made them for him… seeing is how I’m a staving artist and spent my last bit of money on the sneakers that never got to Pharrell…

Though it maybe it a publicity stunt, let it be known that there is a pair of customized Stan Smith waiting for Pharrell Williams somewhere in the state of New Jersey.

We get an early look at the upcoming adidas Originals by Originals Jeremy Scott Fall 2009 footwear collection and the designer as usual thinks outside the box. The wing sneakers return and other high tops with a large tongue coming out of them have been added. There is also an interesting style featuring a double tongue. adidas SLVR 103 Sneaker

Adding a high top to the mix, the adidas SLVR campaign continues to showcase their forward-thinking designs. The 103 sneaker combines a soft full grain leather upper with a high cut for support and comfort as well as a removable 3-D polyurethane insole and polyurethane outsole with rubber insert. Running at a pricey $210 USD, the kicks are now available at the SLVR web store.

adidas Originals gives us a look into their 2008 winter craftsmanship collection narrowing in on the most important part of any wardrobe this season, outerwear. Mixing it up with a variety of materials, the three striped label produces some more traditional looks with satin sports jackets and a couple of stadium pieces alongside the use of faux fur and tweed on various styles. The collection is now available now at Styles.

Here are some detailed pictures of the Adidas Gazelle OP – Silver / Sky Grey / Lt Clay They sport a simple grey upper constructed from suede, which is completely perforated. The tongue features a darker tone of grey, white sole sole is constructed from white rubber. Although they are sort of bland, they are still quite appealing, and are now available at the Sweden based online shop Caliroots.

Adidas Rod Laver Vin – Indigo / Indigo / Neowhite

Here we feature an Adidas classic in its basic form. This pair of Adidas Rod Lavers sport a simple blue colorway and are constructed from suede. The use of white stitching is simply beautiful, and goes great with the classic white sole. They are versatile, as they can be worn with street wear as well as that casual look. They are now available at Caliroots.

adidas x Jeremy Scott Metro Attitude & More

After presenting you last week the upcoming Spring/Summer 2009 adidas x Jeremy Scott Metro Attitude gold colorway, we can give you today a first hint at the white colorway of the sneaker, as well as the rest of the line-up that the fashion designer has worked on. Just like the gold colorway, the Metro Attitude features the wings and it comes in all white. As most of you should have heard, adidas is once again working with Jeremy Scott on a capsule collection. Today we can show you a first image of an upcoming high-top sneaker of the collection. The adidas Metro Attitude got the gold treatment and even some wings. Via Nylon.

adidas Originals x Diesel 2008 Fall/Winter Collection

Following up on their debuting collection in spring/summer of this year, adidas Originals and Italian denim brand Diesel have brought forth another collection titled “Original ways to successfully waste MORE time”. Each pair features minimalistic elements of branding but incorporate familiar icons such as adidas’ 3 Stripes and the Trefoil under some interesting material choices such as 3M and leather. Men’s styles include the adi-Viker and the adi-Thanaz brought forward from last season as well as the inclusion of two new styles, the adi-Larkee and adi-Heeven. Look for these at select adidas Originals stores worldwide.

Adidas BW Army Mid Clean

Adidas takes a step forward and created this new high top sneaker called the BW Army Mid Clean with sleek lines and a fashionable design. Kanye who was recently seen in a pair of Christian Dior super high top sneaker would probably approve of these. This new Adidas may even seem like it might be from their Y3 line of sneakers but goes even further by taking out the signature three stripes to keep the sneaker super clean. The Adidas BW Army Mid Clean should be hitting Adidas retailers now as Caliroots already have them available.

In adidas’ latest “Clean” theme, they’ve taken a new inspiration to select models which are devoid largely of any branding including the trademark adidas 3-Stripes. The BW Army Clean is seen here in both a high-top and low-top version. The Army model itself in inspired by the GSG9, a model seen on the feet of numerous special armed forces around the world and heralded as a great piece of footwear that embodied both the characteristics of a boot and sneaker.

Dorophy Tang for Adidas

This past weekend Adidas opened its massive new Beijing outpost. In celebration, a special exhibition of Dorophy Tang was mounted. Tang, based in Hong Kong and China, mixed Adidas heritage, footballing visuals and French furniture forms into her display. Unmitigated joy comes through the smiling, chubby little kids that figure in each work. Nice reminder of what the sporting life should be like. (via Think Silly).

adidas AZX Limiteditions ZX450

There has been alot of news about the highly anticiapted Adidas AZX project. Here is the first detailed look at the Adidas ZX450s by Limiteditions. The sneakers will use neon accents on subtle dark tones on the body. The AZX project series will be available starting 08/08/08, the same time as the Beijing Olympic games.

Adidas AZX Consortium Collaboration Project

Starting next month Adidas will start releasing sneakers out of the AZX Consortium range. Basically Adidas took the alphabet and chose one store for each letter and worked with them on a sneaker and sometimes also more. Adidas Gazelle OP

Yet another nice Gazelle OP pack is coming from Adidas. This time they present a white and chocolate brown Gazelle with a perforated pattern going over the entire upper. The pack has a very simplistic and yet luxury feel. Via Streething.

Painted Feet

One of the more interesting footwear related articles of the last month or so came from New York Magazine . Basically, the piece covers the basics about why shoes are actually not all that good for you, and highlights the few companies that are working toward achieving a bare foot feel.

Aside from the content, another highlight of the article comes in the form of the painted foot photographs. With the power of paint, feet were transformed into an Adidas gazelle, a handsome wingtip and a high heel. Thanks to Lunatica Desnuda, the artists responsible for the feet are now known. New York based Tempu Paints, specialists in body art and temporary tattoos, did the fine work.

adidas Snakeskin Concord High | Gaffa Decade High

Here’s a look into adidas’ upcoming collection of footwear for later this year involving some of their most prized hardwood models the Concord High and Decade High. The Concord High features an eerily realistic rendition of snakeskin with beige highlights. The Decade High on the other hand utilizes an unconventional inspiration in Gaffer tape/duct tape to create the silver upper. The only known approximate release date is October for the snakeskin Concord Highs.

Adidas Vintage Lux Series | Rod Laver Snakeskin

In their Vintage Lux Series, Adidas Originals brings back some all-time classics in premium materials. Superior craftsmanship on all sneakers is the key element on the series.

The latest in the series to be released is the Rod Laver Snake Skin. The exotic leather covers most of the shoe, which comes in a light beige colorway. Expect it to hit retail in June. Pics via Kenlu.

Adidas “Tanabata” Top Ten Hi

An interesting new Adidas Top Ten Hi is about to be released. Inspired by the Japanese festival known as Tanabata, the adidas Top Ten Hi carries the two different comics of Mikeran and Tanabata on the right and left tongue. To top it off, it’s emblazed with an all-over print that relates to the tradition of writing wishes on small pieces of coloured paper. Via Sneaker Freaker.
